Cleaning Wood Blinds

If you are tired of the traditional heavy curtain look around your home, then why not invest in wood blinds for your windows? Wood blinds look great and despite what you might think, do not necessarily have to break the bank and they are actually quite easy to keep clean. Moreover, the better you care for them, the longer they will last and still look good.

Regular Maintenance Of Wood Blinds

Cleaning wood blinds on a regular basis makes the task not seem like such a chore because if you leave them for months on end without so much as a simple dusting, you will find that the dust, grease and other dirt particles will be much tougher to remove. Indulge in a bit of regular cleaning and your efforts will pay off.

First of all, you will need some cleaning materials, most of which you will probably have around the home anyway. These will include:

- A large floor cloth

- An old sheet or bath towel

- Non-wax wood polish

- Fabric softener

- A soft bristled paint brush

- Vacuum cleaner or soft cloth

- Tumble dryer sheet

Easy Steps On How To Clean Wood Blinds

Wood Blinds Image In Wood Blinds- Cover the floor area directly underneath the wood blinds to protect it and to catch the dust that is removed during cleaning.

- Clean the individual wooden veins carefully using a vacuum cleaner; this is helped by a small brush attachment that you might have got with the vacuum cleaner. If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner, use a soft cloth to wipe away the dust.

- If there are stubborn pieces of dirt or stains on the wood blinds that will not budge, use a soft bristled paint brush that has been lightly dipped in fabric softener to wipe them away. This tip is also good for asthmatics or those with dust allergies as the fabric softener will stop the dust from circulating round the room.

- Once clean, you can polish the wood blinds with the non-wax polish but be mindful to use only a little bit. A tiny amount of polish goes a long way.

- You can then use a tumble dryer sheet that has been lightly dipped in fabric softener to help prevent dust from returning and sticking to the blinds anytime soon. It also buys you a little bit more time in between cleaning.

By following a simple routine of cleaning wood blinds, you will find that it is easy to keep your wood blinds squeaky clean and they will always look fresh and nice.
